Man Utd: Pogba 'still best midfielder' says David Moyes
Manchester United initially planned for Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay to be their central midfield pairing this season, according to reports. Both men have, however, had their campaign disrupted by injuries.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United had initially hoped that Pogba and McTominay would be regulars in the middle of the park for them this season.
Back in the summer, the Red Devils saw Ander Herrera leave the club, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer then failing to bring in a replacement.
And it seems United were banking on Pogba and McTominay stepping up in the absence of the Spain international.
The Red Devils were also hopeful that Nemanja Matic would be able to be involved, before then being phased out.
But the Serbia international has barely played this season and, just this week, left training after spending just 24 minutes in action.

On Pogba, who has been out of action since September 30, the Norwegian said: “Paul is stepping up his recovery and let’s see how soon he’ll be match fit and available.
“Of course, he’ll be like a new signing for us.
“He’s not really been able to play for us and, when we get him back, it’ll be like a new world-class signing and world-class midfielder.
“We want him back as soon as possible. Sunday? No.
“I can’t say now as I’ve not been home and seen him. Let’s see where he’s at when he comes back and he starts training with us.”
