Jamie Redknapp makes Man Utd claim over Liverpool’s front three following Palace win
Jamie Redknapp sang the praises of Liverpool’s front three after their win against Crystal Palace.
Liverpool: Jurgen Klopp reacts to win against Crystal Palace
Liverpool’s front three of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are reminiscent of former Manchester United attacking players.
That’s the opinion of ex-Reds star Jamie Redknapp.
Liverpool continued their incredible start to the season against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are still top of the Premier League and the only unbeaten team in the league.
They are eight points ahead of second-placed Leicester City, and seemingly have the title race in their own hands.
Mane grabbed his eighth league goal of the year, while Firmino got his fourth with a last-gasp winner.
And Redknapp compared the two, along with Salah, to the likes of United’s Teddy Sheringham, Andy Cole, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Dwight Yorke.
The ex-Liverpool midfielder declared that Firmino’s late winner was an example of that in his MailOnline column.
“Liverpool's great threat is that their forwards bring the chaos factor, just as Manchester United used to,” he wrote.
“You'd look at Teddy Sheringham, Andy Cole, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Dwight Yorke and you feared one could score at any moment.
“If the ball was bouncing in the box someone would be there to finish — like Roberto Firmino did at Palace.”
Between them, Firmino, Salah and Mane have got 18 league goals this season, propelling the Reds to the top of the table.
Salah missed out against Palace, but could return against Napoli in the Champions League tomorrow night, according to Jurgen Klopp.
“Mo is all good, he couldn't train for nine days,” the German said.
“He was with Egypt, went home, trained 60-70% the day before yesterday, and was first time 100% yesterday.
“We had to make the decision whether to start him or not. We didn't start him, we were about to bring him on when we scored the winner.
“So we could rest him today. That's really good. Wednesday he will be back.”
