Man Utd: Haaland 'built for Premier League' says father
Erling Haaland sent Ole Gunnar Solskjaer text messages about Manchester United earlier this year.
Haaland has emerged as one of United’s top targets ahead of the January transfer window after his fine displays for RB Salzburg in Austria.
It is understood United will make their move for the 19-year-old in January but are open to loaning him back to Salzburg for the rest of the season.
Solskjaer and Haaland have already worked together after spending two years at Molde, and the striker believes he is the perfect boss for young players.
And earlier this year Haaland revealed he’d been speaking to Solskjaer about United.
"I was working almost two years under him and I have a lot of good memories," the striker said back in April.
"Especially for young players, he was a perfect coach. Because he was an excellent striker, he taught me a lot of things.
"Even now we are texting sometimes and I am happy about his success with Man United. I wish him all the best for the future."
Those comments will come as a good reminder to United fans who are desperate for January signings.
It emerged this week that Solskjaer has sent his ‘personal scout’ to watch Haaland as he plots a move in January.
Haaland has already scored 15 goals in the Austrian Bundesliga in 12 appearances and has seven in four in the Champions League, including one against Liverpool.
He has also scored four hat-tricks this season and hit a stunning nine goals for in a 12-0 win for Norway’s Under 20 side against Honduras.
And United need reinforcing up top after selling Romelu Luakaku and loaning Alexis Sanchez both to Inter Milan.
United have scored just 16 goals in 12 games this season and sit seventh in the Premier League, nine points behind Manchester City in fourth, and a staggering 18 behind league leaders Liverpool.
