Chelsea fans complete stunning Jorginho u-turn as Frank Lampard names star as captain
Chelsea fans are delighted that Jorginho has been named captain by Frank Lampard for tonight's match against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup, as they complete a stunning u-turn from this time last year, under Maurizio Sarri.
Chelsea fans are delighted that Italian Jorginho has been named captain for the Blues' clash against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.
Jorginho has had an excellent start to the season, and supporters rightly believe he deserves his chance to wear the armband.
Chelsea take on United at Stamford Bridge in the Carabao Cup Round of 16 tonight, with a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs.
The midfielder is sure to play a key role if the Blues manage to navigate their tie against United to seal their place in tomorrow's draw.
JORGINHO IS MY CAPTAIN
"CAPTAIN JORGINHOOOOOOOOO," said one Chelsea fan on Twitter.
"My Vice Captain JORGINHO," added another fan.
"First time Jorginho captain," said one supporter, while another said: "He should be in every game."
"CAPTAIN JORGI," tweeted one Chelsea fan.
"JORGINHO IS MY CAPTAIN," said one Twitter user.
"My Captain," added another supporter, while one simply said: "AHHHHHH YESSSSSSS."
But, Jorginho has taken a little bit of time to adapt to life in the Premier League, and had a difficult start to his Chelsea career.
Fans saw the Italian as a part of Maurizio Sarri's furniture at the club, and didn't think he deserved to play in the central midfield position ahead of N'Golo Kante.
Last year, fans were keen to see Jorginho leave the club, along with manager Sarri.
"It’s ok sarri. We forgive u. But only if u leave chelsea now and take jorginho with u," said one fan at the time.
"Jorginho worst cdm in the league he cant even defend," added another.
"Sarri - take Jorginho and your entourage out of Stamford Bridge!!!" said one Chelsea supporter.
"Sarri made Chelsea fans feel like Jorginho was the next Pirlo," claimed one fan, along with an emoji of a 'crying, laughing face'.
"Man thought he was to epl to dominate lol, turned out that he's just an Italian Tom Cleverly..... Jorginho is a fraud."
Chelsea signed Jorginho from Napoli in July 2018, for £51million.
He’s featured in all 10 of Chelsea’s Premier League fixtures this season, as well as all of their Champions League ties.
