Liverpool fans rave about ‘future captain’ Curtis Jones ahead of Arsenal Carabao Cup tie
Liverpool fans have raved about youngster Curtis Jones, claiming he could become a future captain at the club, ahead of his possible Anfield debut in the Carabao Cup clash against Arsenal on Wednesday.
Liverpool fans are reveling at the thought of 18-year-old Curtis Jones becoming an Anfield regular in the future.
The winger is in line for a “dream” Anfield debut against Arsenal, in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night (7.30pm).
Jones has come through the academy at Liverpool, having joined the club with the Under-9s, and he’s revealed it would be incredible to finally play at Anfield, for the club he loves.
Fans have praised the youngster for his progress through the ranks, and claimed he could become captain of the club in the future.
Bright future Jones, play him tomorrow
“Bright future Jones, play him tomorrow,” urged one Liverpool fan on Twitter.
“Future captain,” added another supporter, replying to a tweet from the official Liverpool Twitter account about the starlet.
“He's a super young player,” claimed one Liverpool fan.
Another supporter added: “Future captain. One of our own.”
Jones has already featured twice for the Liverpool senior team; once last season, in the Reds’ 2-1 defeat to Wolves in the FA Cup, and once this season in the Carabao Cup.
He put in a man of the match performance against the Milton Keynes Dons in the third round of the cup, and is likely to be rewarded with a place against Arsenal.
Speaking ahead of the tie, Jones admitted that he’s relishing the opportunity at playing under the lights at Anfield.
“It'd be a dream come true,” he told Liverpool’s official website. “Growing up, going through the Academy, being a local lad and loving the football club, my only dream is to go out there and play at Anfield and represent this club. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do that on Wednesday.
“When I was younger my mum used to always take me to any game that I could go to, regardless if it was a first-team game or an U21s game. I always used to try to go because that's how I am.
“My family are all big Reds and they go to every home [game] that they can go to and away games also.
“I thought I had a good game against MK Dons and I was fortunate enough to come away with Man of the Match, which kind of summed up a good performance from me and the rest of the boys.
“My focus is on Wednesday and I can't wait to see what happens.”
