Man Utd may be relying on Barcelona, Inter Milan to seal Jadon Sancho transfer in January
Ex-Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley reckons Borussia Dortmund would be willing to sell Jadon Sancho if Barcelona and Inter Milan beat them to qualification out of Champions League Group F.
Man Utd: Sancho 'on the radar' for January transfer says Burley
Craig Burley reckons Borussia Dortmund will only sell Jadon Sancho to Manchester United in January if they fail to qualify out of their Champions League group.
Sancho is a key transfer target for United whom reports claim will not buckle at paying over £100million for.
The teenager has been a regular in the Borussia Dortmund side since the beginning of last season and has scored twice in the 10 caps he has won for England.
Burley believes Dortmund will want to keep Sancho beyond January if they make it to the last-16 of the Champions League.
if Dortmund get out of the Champions League group, I’m going to say in January it’s a no, possibility if they go into the Europa League
However, he says if they do not finish in the top two of Group F then they will consider cashing in on the 19-year-old.
“First and foremost we’re presuming this is January,” Burley told ESPN FC.
“I do believe that he is on the radar of United and a host of other clubs.
“I think this comes down to the fact of whether Dortmund get out of the Champions League group [or] Inter Milan [do] - we think Barcelona will probably win the group, no guarantee but…
“So if Dortmund get out of the Champions League group, I’m going to say in January it’s a no, possibility if they go into the Europa League they might look to cash in on him.
“That’s what they’d do. Yeah [he is the type of player United need], good player.”
Dortmund are currently third in Group F after three Champions League matchdays.
Barcelona are top with seven points, three points clear of Inter Milan in second and Dortmund, who both have four points.
Inter beat Dortmund 2-0 last week and the two go head-to-head in Germany next week.
Dortmund then head to the Nou Camp on November 27 before hosting bottom side Slavia Prague on December 10.
Inter go to Slavia before the visit of Barcelona on the final matchday.
