Arsenal: Mesut Ozil's absence is 'down to Emery' says pundit
Mesut Ozil is reportedly keen on a move to the MLS, but he won’t be handing in a transfer request at Arsenal.
Ozil’s career at Arsenal has hit a brick wall with Unai Emery excluding the 31-year-old from the matchday squad in recent weeks.
It’s looking increasingly likely Ozil will be forced to leave the club in the near future in search of regular playing time.
And Bleacher Report claim a move to the MLS is the most likely outcome.
However, Ozil still hasn’t given up on recovering his career at the Emirates.
Bleacher Report adds how those close to the player are “perplexed by the way he has been left in the cold by Emery.”
But the attacking midfielder is not ready to hand in a transfer request just yet.
The report states Ozil is willing to wait in the wings to see whether Emery will in fact keep his job.
The Arsenal boss is coming under increasing pressure after the team fell to a 1-0 defeat to newly-promoted Sheffield United on Monday evening.
Still, the Gunners sit in a comfortable position in their Europa League group after three wins from their opening three games.
But some Arsenal fans have equally been frustrated at Emery for dropping Ozil this campaign.
During the match against Vitoria Guimaraes, fans held up signs demanding Emery reinstate Ozil to the matchday squad.
And Arsenal face a difficult task in moving Ozil before the end of his contract in 18 months’ time.
Express Sport understands DC United, LA Galaxy and David Beckham’s Inter Miami have registered an interest in taking him for next season.
But the Gunners will also have to finance part of a move away from north London Ozil’s wages are beyond the means of any MLS side.
