Rangers player ratings vs FC Porto – Europa League
GK: Allan McGregor – 7
No chance with Diaz's strike and little to do before a stunning double save in the closing minutes.
RB: James Tavernier – 5
Shaky defensively and never looked settled against a tricky attack.
CB: Connor Goldson – 6
Like Tavernier, failed to exude a calming presence and was guilty of one horrendous slice in his own penalty area but improved as the match progressed.
CB: Filip Helander – 8
A fantastic display from the Swede who was strong in the tackle, read the game well and threw himself in the way of shots as Porto pressed late on.
LB: Borna Barisic – 6
Given a really tough time defensively by Jesus Corona but was a threat in attack, providing the assist for Morelos and setting up the Colombian once again with a whipped delivery.
CM: Ryan Jack – 8
The driving force in Rangers' midfield, setting the tempo with a snappy display as he failed to let the home side gain control.
Gave the ball away for Porto's goal but that was the only blemish on an excellent performance.
CM: Steven Davis – 7
Helped Rangers gain a measure of control in the second half, covering plenty of ground in front of the back four while his ball retention was vital.
CM: Glen Kamara – 6
Had a couple of nervous moments when he was caught in possession but otherwise solid in an efficient midfield.
RAM: Brandon Barker – 6
Showed good intent to run at the Porto defence and caused problems with his pace, although his decision-making was questionable at times.
LAM: Ryan Kent – 7
Looked Rangers' most dangerous attacker, offering width in a bustling, busy display.
ST: Alfredo Morelos – 7
Looked incredibly frustrated in the opening moments but kept a lid on his emotions and was a real handful.
Took his goal brilliantly and also hit the bar then forced a great save from Agustin Marchesin with two headers.
SUB: Joe Aribo (on for Kent, 75 mins) – 5
Got through some vital defensive work.
SUB: Scott Arfield (on for Jack, 82 mins) – N/A
Put a shift in.
SUB: Sheyi Ojo (on for Barker, 83 mins) – N/A
Couldn't take advantage as the game became stretched.
