Tottenham player ratings vs Watford: Spurs struggle again despite late Dele Alli goal
How did Tottenham’s players rate in the 1-1 draw to Watford?
Spurs: Pochettino might not last the season says Burley
Tottenham snatched a draw against Watford in the dying embers to spare further blushes.
The international break seemed to come at the right time for Spurs after heavy defeat to Bayern Munich (7-2) and Brighton (3-0), but they nearly fell to another embarrassing result.
Mauricio Pochettino opted to start Heung-min Son from the bench and he came on at half-time as they looked to turn things around.
Dele Alli was the man to fire the equaliser after confusion with VAR.
So how did the Spurs players rate?
Paulo Gazzaniga - 5
Not much that could have been done for the Watford opener.
Danny Rose - 3
Gifted Watford the opener after getting caught under the ball. Daryl Janmaat teed up Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Jan Vertonghen - 4
Caught Gerard Deulofeu but luckily VAR came to Tottenham’s rescue.
Davinson Sanchez - 4
Booked for going through the back of Roberto Pereyra. Subbed at half-time.
Toby Alderweireld - 5
Floated a few crosses into the box in the first half and was bizarrely their biggest attacking threat for the first 45 minutes.
Serge Aurier - 4
Not universally popular amongst the Spurs fans and this performance was a good example of why. Often gets forward at the wrong time, exposing them defensively.
Moussa Sissoko - 4
Blazed an effort well over the bar in the first half, really should have done better. Struggled to gain control in midfield.
Harry Winks - 5
Doesn’t seem to work best alongside Sissoko. Doucoure got the better of him in the middle of the park.
Dele Alli - 7
Poor performance, lucky not to be subbed but he did come up with the goods when it mattered.
Lucas Moura - 5
Tottenham love crossing the ball to their famous, giant target man Lucas Moura.
Harry Kane - 6
Came deep to try and get things going but didn’t happen for him.
SUBS Heung-min Son (on for Sanchez, 45 mins) - 6
Crashed a thunderous effort off the bar just over five minutes after coming on.
Erik Lamela (on for Lucas Moura, 63 mins) - 5
Failed to make an impact.
Tanguy Ndombele (on for Harry Winks, 71 mins) - 6
Looked sharp, was clear he should have started from the beginning.
