Michael Owen sends worrying message to Arsenal ahead of trip to Sheffield United
Michael Owen believes Arsenal will struggle against Sheffield United.
Chelsea and Arsenal to finish in top four claims Nicol
Arsenal might have to be forced to settle for a point on Monday night against Sheffield United.
That’s the verdict of ex-Liverpool forward Michael Owen.
The Gunners have the chance to overtake Manchester City into second place with a win - depending on the champions’ result against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Unai Emery’s side are unbeaten in five games in the league - but have drawn three.
They could welcome back forward Alexandre Lacazette for the first time since the start of last month.
Lacazette has been unavailable since September 1 after suffering an ankle injury, but could return this weekend.
The Frenchman returned to training this week and is expected to come back to the squad for the trip to Bramall Lane.
Sheffield United host Arsenal after suffering an unlucky defeat to Liverpool before the international break and drawing with Watford.
And Owen believes they will have enough about them to secure a point against Emery’s top-four-chasing side.
“Sheffield United have failed to score in their last three games in all competitions but they were, arguably, unlucky not to pick up a point against Liverpool in their last home game,” he said.
“Arsenal have only conceded once in their last four games in all competitions, but I would not be surprised if the Gunners had to settle for a point at Bramall Lane on Monday.
“Chris Wilder’s side have not lost by more than one goal in the league so far this campaign and I think they will get a draw against the Gunners.”
Wilder has been doing a stellar job for United so far this season, with the Blades currently 13th in the table.
Despite suffering defeats against Liverpool, Leicester and Southampton, they have beaten the likes of Everton and Crystal Palace.
