Aliadiere doubt
MIDDLESBROUGH could be without French striker Jeremie Aliadiere for their televised Championship season opener at home to Sheffield United tonight.
Former Arsenal forward Aliadiere has been unwell this week and did not train yesterday.
Manager Gareth Southgate is hoping Tuncay, Gary O’Neil and Julio Arca will all recover from minor injuries for the clash with the Blades, who lost last season’s play-off final.
But Southgate is surprised Tuncay has not been sold this summer, with only Aston Villa and Stuttgart showing any interest in the £8million-rated striker.
“I’m amazed Tuncay hasn’t been snapped up,” he said. “We’ve told him we would not stand in his way if the right offer came in, but so far that hasn’t happened.”
