Barcelona fans demand Ernesto Valverde is sacked at half time amid Inter disaster
The five-time Champions League winners found themselves 1-0 down after two minutes tonight.
Barcelona is ‘not the club we used to see before’ says pundit
Barcelona fans have demanded the club sack manager Ernesto Valverde at half time of the Champions League group stage match against Inter Milan.
The La Liga champions have endured a tough start to the 2019/20 campaign, picking up just 13 points in their first seven league fixtures.
That run included defeats to Granada and Athletic Bilbao, while the Catalan side began their Champions League campaign with a goalless draw at Borussia Dortmund.
Pressure had been building on boss Valverde, but the second round of European matches tonight have seen calls for his dismissal intensify.
That is because Barcelona found themselves 1-0 down to Antonio Conte's Inter Milan after just two minutes this evening, with Lautaro Martinez firing the Serie A leaders in front with a cool, left-footed finish.
After the opening goal at the Nou Camp, Barcelona fans took to Twitter to demand the boss be removed.
One supporter tweeted: "Is it possible to sack Valverde at halftime?"
Another wrote: "Sack Valverde at half time."
"Valverde must be sacked at half time," put a third.
A fourth fan added: "Valverde is the worst coach Barca has ever had.
"Fire him at half time."
Barcelona: It’s ‘difficult’ to speak to Messi says Griezmann
While another wrote: "Can we fire Valverde now?"
One fan even called for Barcelona icon Gerard Pique to leave the club after his part in the goal.
They tweeted: "PIQUE OUT VALVERDE OUT."
Another agreed: "It's Pique's fault and Lenglet tried to cover for him. Pique and Suarez belong on the bench."
