Peter Crouch’s wife Abbey Clancy explains how she ended his goal drought at Liverpool
Liverpool hero Peter Crouch went 22 matches without scoring a goal after his £7million move from Southampton, and his wife, Abbey Clancy, has revealed that should helped to break his duck by buying him a pair of lucky pants.
“I went shopping with my mum and we found these lucky pants and we bought him them,” she told Amazon Prime’s Back of the Net, which is hosted by Crouch.
“He wore them and he couldn’t stop scoring!”
Crouch scored his first goal for Liverpool against Wigan Athletic, and would only have to wait 11 minutes into the tie before finding the back of the net.
Just 11 minutes later, he doubled his goalscoring tally for his new club, and would go on to have an illustrious goalscoring record at Anfield.

“I’m really pleased because I was getting a bit of stick recently,” he said after the Wigan match.
“It was a great team performance and it was good to get the three points.
“To score was great, I'm pleased and I can move on now, hopefully.
“I am naturally buoyant and a happy person but at times it was getting me down but the goal has gone in and I can get on with things now.”
