Patrice Evra sends Ed Woodward message after Man Utd lose to West Ham - ‘Are you ready?’
Manchester United hero Patrice Evra has urged the Old Trafford board and Ed Woodward to let him "help" them, after the club lost 2-0 against West Ham on Sunday.
Man Utd: Patrice Evra tells Paul Pogba they need to 'work hard'
Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has sent the Old Trafford hierarchy a message after they lost to West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.
He urged Ed Woodward to let him "help" them in an apparent hint at the club's transfer business.
The Red Devils spent £143million this summer, and have splashed out a huge £264m net over the past three years, but continue to struggle.
Evra’s comments came after Solskjaer’s team lost 2-0 at West Ham, where Marcus Rashford also hobbled off injured.
I think it’s time to get our hands dirty!
The former United left-back took to Instagram to urge the United board to get him involved, having held talks about the vacant technical director role at the club over the summer.
“I think it’s time to get our hands dirty!,” he commented.
“@manchesterunited board, are you ready to let us help you guys…? #manchesterunited”.
Evra posted the comments along with an image of him kissing the United badge.
Solskjaer’s transfer policy was to attract younger talent this summer, after a series of failed transfers.
He specifically moved away from spending large amounts of money on individual stars, as the club have a history of overpaying in the market.
The Red Devils spent £95m on Paul Pogba in 2017, as well as £39m and £34m on Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly, respectively.
Since then, they’ve bought Alexis Sanchez for £31m, Victor Lindelof for £32m, Nemanja Matic for £40m, and Romelu Lukaku for £76m.
Speaking after the defeat to West Ham, Solskjaer told BBC Sport: “I'm very disappointed. You're always disappointed when you lose games.
“This was a game that we could have won. Going home tonight we'll go through the game again. At the moment we're just all very flat.
“Key moments went against us. They had some great finishes. We just didn't have the quality when we had those big moments.
“In the Premier League if you don't take them you won't get any points. It tipped in their favour and we just have to accept that.”
