Man Utd begin search for David de Gea replacement in fresh transfer development
David de Gea is worrying Man Utd chiefs with his stalling over a new deal.
Man United must start taking chances says Solskjaer
Manchester United scouts are reportedly keeping their eyes peeled for a new goalkeeper as fears that David de Gea will leave intensify.
De Gea was offered a new long-term contract worth £350,000-a-week earlier in the summer but has not put pen to paper.
The Spaniard’s current deal expires in June and Old Trafford chiefs have been confident that De Gea would commit his future to the club.
Despite a poor 2018/19 campaign and average start to the current season, United still want to keep De Gea.
But The Sun report United scouts are now scouring Europe to identify potential heirs to the No 1 shirt with a contingency plan in place should he refuse the club’s latest overtures.
If De Gea continues to avoid the dotted line he could walk out the door for free next summer.
As a result, United would rather sell the shot-stopper in January, when they ostensibly believe a £30million price tag could be met.
Paris Saint-Germain have sniffed around De Gea but it is unknown whether they would pay that much for a player who has six months left on their contract.
Man Utd: Solskjaer reflects on draw against Southampton
Atletico Madrid keeper Jan Oblak has been on United’s radar for a while but the keeper is believed to have a release clause north of £100m.
Dinamo Zagreb No 1 Dominik Livakovic, 24, is a younger talent who has been earmarked as a future star but his signing would represent a rolling of the dice.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has Sergio Romero, who has been capped by Argentina 96 times, at his disposal but the 32-year-old is not seen as long-term first-choice goalkeeper.
Dean Henderson was loaned to Sheffield United this season but has not yet shown he has what it takes to earn a starting spot in Manchester.
