Arsenal fans fume as Nicolas Pepe missing from squad to face Barcelona
ARSENAL fans are fuming after record signing Nicolas Pepe was left out of the squad which faces Barcelona this evening.
Arsenal take on Barcelona at the Nou Camp in their final pre-season outing for the Joan Gamper Trophy.
Supporters were expecting to get a first glimpse of their new £72million winger Pepe, who penned a five-year contract earlier this week.
However, Unai Emery has left the Ivorian in London after coming through his first training session yesterday.
And fans are gutted their new addition will not get to taste first-team football before the Premier League season gets underway next weekend.
The Gunners took an early flight to Barcelona this morning ahead of their 7pm (GMT) kick-off.
But supporters were not happy with one man not getting a seat on the plane.
“Why no Pepe?” was the most common message asked of Arsenal’s Twitter account.
But many other fans were even more devastated they would not get to see Pepe’s debut today.
“Turn the plane around. Turn the f***ing plane right around,” one person wrote.
While another added: “WTF NO PEPE. DELETE OR CONSEQUENCES.”
Alexandre Lacazette is also absent from the squad as he continues his recovery from injury.
“Laca got injured, should be kept rested. But no Pepe has me in tears,” another fan commented.
