Neymar: Barcelona would like him back claims Julien Laurens
Barcelona are keen to bring the Brazilian forward back to Spain after he informed PSG that he no longer wants to play in Ligue 1.
Despite both clubs being willing to compete a transfer, financial complications have made any immediate deal impossible.
Neymar became the most expensive player in history when he left the Catalan giants for Paris in 2017, for an estimated £198million, and his current club aren’t keen to make a loss.
However, Barcelona do not have the funds to pay for the player upfront, with swap deals and instalments the most likely.
Although an agreement still looks a long way off, the 27-year-old is doing all he can to help the club take another step in proceedings, and he is willing to take a pay cut to ensure a deal goes through.
Spanish outlet Sport have revealed that Neymar will not demand that Barcelona match his current wage, and is happy to earn less to assist a move back to Spain.
The report also claims that Barcelona are still expecting the two clubs to reach a deal, with the possible exit of Philippe Coutinho a factor.
Neymar left the Nou Camp for PSG in 2017 with the target of helping the club to European glory, but despite an impressive 51 goals in 58 games, he has failed to fire the club to Champions League glory.
Neymar’s PSG team-mate Kylian Mbappe has given his thought’s on the possible exit, and admitted that ‘everyone knows’ the situation.
“He has a situation that everyone knows,” Mbappe said.
“Of course I want him to stay. I spoke with him.
“He knows what I think of him and his situation. Everything is going well between us.
Neymar: PSG star shows off his skills in training
“We have a relationship based on honesty and respect. He knows that I respect him and that I admire him.”
Edinson Cavani gave a similar view, but suggested that he could still play a part for his side next season.
"I hope that everything that has happened to him will give him the experience to grow as an individual," Cavani told Le Parisien.
“”I think he still has a lot to give PSG until the last day he will be here as a player, and a lot to give to football too."
