Michael Owen reveals Premier League prediction for next season - bad news for Liverpool
MICHAEL OWEN has revealed his predictions for the new Premier League season, including who will win the title, and who will be relegated in the 19/20 season but his verdict is bad news for his former side Liverpool.
Marcus Rashford sets fire to Premier League predictions
Michael Owen thinks Liverpool will finish second in the Premier League next season.
He thinks Jurgen Klopp's side will push Manchester City all the way again, but ultimately it’ll be Pep Guardiola and co. who come out on top.
The return of Kevin De Bruyne will have a large role to play in the title race, as well as City’s acquisition of club-record signing Rodri, he added.
“City will miss the presence around the dressing room of skipper Vincent Kompany this season,” Owen told BetVictor.
Liverpool look set again to be the main challengers to Manchester City
“They remain the team to beat, although they picked up a meagre 98 points last season compared to their century in the previous campaign.
“Champions League winners Liverpool look set again to be the main challengers to City as they continue their search for a, hitherto, elusive PL title.
“The Reds played their part in a magnificent title race last season and they are sure to have their supporters as they bid to go one better, but I just favour City in what looks a virtual match between these two great sides.”
Elsewhere, Owen backs Tottenham and Chelsea to make up the remaining top four spots in his Premier League prediction, and predicts United to miss out on Champions League football once more.
Man United will have “a season of consolidation” under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, added the former Red Devils striker.
While Arsenal have officially confirmed the signing of Nicolas Pepe from Lille for £72million, Owen still thinks they’ll finish in sixth place.
Their struggles on the road will ultimately hinder their chances of breaking into the top four, he says.
Meanwhile, it’ll be Norwich, Sheffield United and Bournemouth who face relegation to the Championship, said Owen.
