Man Utd have agreement with Lille over Nicolas Pepe transfer - but there’s a twist
MANCHESTER UNITED have an agreement with Lille over Nicolas Pepe, reports say.
Nicolas Pepe nets incredible goal for Lille against Angers SCO
Manchester United, as well as Premier League rivals Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton, have been tipped to lure Pepe away from Lille this summer.
The Ivory Coast international is in-demand after a stunning campaign where he scored 22 goals and registered 11 assists from 38 Ligue 1 matches.
Manchester United want an established right winger, despite forking out for Daniel James earlier in the window.
And French outlet La Voix du Nord claim that United have an agreement with Lille regarding a potential transfer.
However, it is claimed they are not the only club who have such an agreement.
Inter Milan and Napoli have reportedly shook hands on a deal for Pepe.
Inter are known to be chasing United hitman Romelu Lukaku but despite that pursuit, they still want a deal to be done.
Napoli are reportedly edging closer to snapping up James Rodriguez from Real Madrid.
But with the Serie A giants determined to win the Scudetto next year, it appears they want Pepe in as well.
Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti recently confirmed talks over the player, confirming the forward’s entourage held talks at a hotel.
"I've met with Pepe's agents," confirmed Ancelotti. "They were at our hotel.
"It is normal that we would meet to discuss eventual negotiations. It is pointless to hide it with his agents here: we are interested in Pepe.
"Pepe is a wide attacking player.
“We want to find someone who can play between the lines, without forgetting that Milik is a centre-forward, but also strong with his feet."
United recently briefed that they weren’t interested in securing Pepe’s signature.
But whether or not that proves to be true or not is something that only time will tell.
Napoli appear to be his likeliest destination.
And that may prompt both United and Inter to look elsewhere.
