Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives fresh update on Axel Tuanzebe transfer plans
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Axel Tuanzebe to be a key figure at the club.
Man United: Solskjaer addresses transfer window deadline
Tuanzebe spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, impressing as Dean Smith’s side were promoted from the Championship.
The 21-year-old has featured heavily for Manchester United during their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia with Solskjaer wanting to sign a centre-back this summer.
Tuanzebe impressed during the 1-0 win over Inter Milan on Saturday, partnering Victor Lindelof in defence.
And Solskjaer believes Tuanzebe can have a long and successful career with the Red Devils.
"He's got a future at Man United yes, of course he has," Solskjaer said.
"Today was a test for him playing against different opposition, we know he can play at that level, that's why he didn't play against Leeds and now he's shown today he's very capable of playing at this level.
"Axel's gonna be the future of this club."
Manchester United are next in action as they face Tottenham on Thursday.
It comes with United opening their Premier League campaign against Chelsea on Sunday August 11.
Solskjaer is expected to be busy in the remaining weeks of the transfer window as he looks to strengthen his squad before the season begins.
And the Norwegian wants players who can make an immediate impact.
He recently said: “It doesn’t matter if they are English, Norwegian, French, Brazilian.
"You just want good players and good people.
“Quality and speed, of course, is a big thing in football nowadays.
“The more x-factors you have in a team, the better you are.”
