Liverpool fans troll Man Utd by flying banner over training to brag about Champions League
LIVERPOOL are still flying high after their Champions League triumph in June - and some fans decided to show it in literal terms to Manchester United.
Man United TROLLED by Liverpool fans with plane banner
Liverpool strengthened their standing as the most successful English club in Europe last season by winning their sixth Champions League title.
The 2-0 win over Tottenham put them three ahead of United in European Cups, with the gap between both sides exacerbated by The Red Devils’ poor campaign.
And United players were reminded of that fact on their pre-season tour of Australia, thanks to some frivolous Liverpool fans.
As Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad trained at the WACA Ground in Perth, a banner was flown over the stadium by a small aircraft.
“Liverpool FC - 6 x European Champions,” it read.
Over 12,000 fans attended the open training session ahead of United’s opening tour game against Perth Glory.
It marks the first of six pre-season fixtures for United as Solskjaer tries to revolutionise the squad.
Talking of his surroundings Down Under, the Norwegian said at a press conference on Wednesday: “It has been very good so far, we are just getting over the jet-lag.
“We have been training, I am not a big cricket fan, but it is great to be able to train at this stadium.
“We know last year was disappointing, but we know what we need to aim for.
“We have got trophies to play for, it is about bouncing back and pre-season has been encouraging.
“I think the players have done well. If we are only at Carrington sometimes that goes stale. It is new enthusiasm.”
