Arsenal sent Aubameyang message amid Lacazette to Atletico Madrid transfer rumours
ARSENAL must not sell Alexandre Lacazette this summer and need to find a way to keep both him and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang happy.
Arsenal must NOT sell Alexandre Lacazette says Hislop
That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.
Both Lacazette and Aubameyang have been linked with summer transfers away from Arsenal.
Atletico Madrid are said to be keen on Lacazette, with Manchester United reportedly interested in Aubameyang.
The duo scored 50 goals between them in all competitions last season and are great friends off the pitch.
I think without question you keep hold of Lacazette
But at times head coach Unai Emery struggled to find the right balance to get them both in the starting XI.
Hislop, when asked of Atletico’s interest in Lacazette, said it is imperative Arsenal keep hold of the Frenchman.
He believes Emery needs to make it a priority to either get Lacazette and Aubameyang in the team, or keep one happy when the other starts.
“That [Lacazette to Atletico] makes absolutely no sense to me, from an Arsenal perspective,” Hislop said.
Aubameyang to Man United is ‘madness’ says Ray Parlour
“I’m going to look at this from the perspective from the selling club.
“Listen, if you’re Atletico Madrid, I think it makes perfect sense.
“You’re looking for that striker, linked with Gonzalo Higuain earlier in the week which made a whole lot less sense.
“But from an Arsenal perspective, I don’t like this at all.
“I think Lacazette and Aubameyang have a nice understanding.
“If you find a way to either play them both together or get them to understand the rotation policy and buy into that, I think without question you keep hold of Lacazette.”
Lacazette and Aubameyang were among the Arsenal players who returned for pre-season training on Saturday.
The Gunners start their Premier League campaign away to Newcastle on August 11.
