Three players Arsenal could sign this week as free agent market opens up
ARSENAL boss Unai Emery will be hoping to make some additions to his squad this summer in the transfer window. But, the Gunners have a limited transfer budget, so may opt to sign these out-of-contract players for free.
Arsenal want a central defender claims Ornstein
Arsenal will be hoping to improve on last season after finishing fifth in the Premier League.
Emery has only been given £45m to sign new players this summer, which is unlikely to be enough for wholesale changes.
But the Gunners boss could look to free agents to boost his squad for free.
Daniel Sturridge, Gary Cahill and Mario Balotelli will all be available on free transfers.
It’s looking increasingly likely that Arsenal will sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Daniel Sturridge
Sturridge has left Liverpool after six and a half years on Merseyside.
It’s looking increasingly likely that Arsenal will sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to free up some added transfer funds.
With that, there will be a hole for a new striker, and Sturridge would be an ideal signing for Emery.
The former England international still have plenty of years left at the top level, and he’s been known to score more than 20 goals in a season with the right service.
Gary Cahill
The Chelsea captain is leaving Stamford Bridge after he fell down the pecking order under Maurizio Sarri.
Cahill’s experience would be invaluable for Arsenal’s defensive line.
The Gunners have often been criticised for losing their shape in defence, as well as failing to mark attackers correctly.
Adding Cahill into the fold, even for just a season or two, could make a crucial difference to Arsenal’s goal difference at the end of the year.
Mario Balotelli
Former Man City and Liverpool striker Balotelli will be available this summer after leaving Marseille.
The Italy striker could bolster Arsenal’s attacking force, providing a different option from the bench.
Despite going fairly quiet over the past few years, Balotelli has had a fairly prolific few months in Ligue 1, scoring eight goals for Marseille from just 12 appearances - three of which came from the bench.
He’s also very strong
But, in classic Balotelli style, he also picked up five yellow cards and was sent off in the final league game of the season.
