Callum Hudson-Odoi contract update will worry Chelsea fans as Bayern Munich table bid
CHELSEA winger Callum Hudson-Odoi is no closer to signing a long-term deal at the club, as Bayern Munich look to pounce on the teenager.
Hudson-Odoi agitated for a move in January amid interest from Bayern Munich, who tabled three bids during the winter window.
Chelsea were determined to retain the winger, though, and dismissed all of Bayern’s offers before offering him a long-term contract worth £100,000 a week.
The Blues academy graduate turned down the contract and, according to Sky Sports News, is some distance from agreeing a new deal.
The German champions have tried to capitalise on the uncertainty circling Hudson-Odoi by approaching Chelsea with another offer, believed to be £22.5million.
Hudson-Odoi is the Bavarians’ main target this summer having already sewn up deals for Lucas Hernandez, Benjamin Pavard and Jann-Fiete Arp.
Despite offering more than £30m in January, Bayern hope Chelsea will be forced into taking a smaller fee due to ticking clock on his deal.
If Hudson-Odoi stays at Chelsea but refuses a new contract, he can sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of the UK in January 2020.
Departed Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri began to play Hudson-Odoi following the interest from abroad and the forward ended the season with 24 first-team appearances alongside two England caps.
The campaign ended on a sour note for the 18-year-old, though, after rupturing his Achilles in April.
He is expected to return in September, by which time Chelsea hope to have turned his arm in talks.
The club are unable to sign players this summer as part of their two-window transfer ban from FIFA for regulation breaches regarding the handling of youth players.
Chelsea have appealed the ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport but have not had it suspended amid the investigation.
