Real Madrid boss Zidane draws up four-man transfer shortlist… Man Utd star is top target
REAL MADRID manager Zinedine Zidane wants to make one more signing this summer, and has drawn up a four-man transfer shortlist. Topping the list is Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, who is angling for a move out of Old Trafford.
Real Madrid are only looking to make one new addition to their squad this summer.
They’ve already confirmed five signings since the end of the season; Eden Hazard, Rodrygo, Ferland Mendy, Eder Militao and Luka Jovic.
Zidane is now only trying to fill a hole in the centre of midfielder to work alongside Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Pogba is Zidane’s preferred choice, and the road is clear for the France international to move to Madrid.
His preferred wages could prove to be the stumbling block for Real Madrid
Man United's Pogba has already revealed his desire for a new challenge, and is looking for a way out of Old Trafford.
But, his preferred wages could prove to be the stumbling block for Real Madrid.
If the deal fails to materialise, Real Madrid will likely turn their attention to Christian Eriksen, Donny van de Beek or Tanguy Ndombele.
Eriksen’s contract at Tottenham runs out next year, but Spurs are still hoping for £90m (€100m).
The Dane has also revealed his shock intention to leave the club this summer.
But, Real Madrid’s interest has been waning after Tottenham’s large valuation.
Van de Beek is a more realistic target for Zidane, who could pay the estimated £59m (€65m) asking price.
The 22-year-old was part of the Ajax squad that burst onto the scene, making it all the way to the Champions League semi-final.
Ndombele is still on Real Madrid’s radar, but it looks like he’s more likely to make the move to Tottenham.
The deal appears to be close, with a reported £54m (€60m) fee agreed between Spurs and Lyon.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have also been linked with Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron.
The Paraguay international, who is currently involved in the Copa America, said he was “honoured” to be on Los Blancos’ radar.
