Arsenal transfer target Yannick Carrasco suspended by Chinese club in boost for Emery
ARSENAL transfer target Yannick Carrasco has been suspended by his Chinese club, Dalian Yifang, in what could be considered a big boost for Unai Emery’s summer plans.
Arsenal: Yannick Carrasco would 'fit the bill perfectly' says fan
Carrasco was suspended by Dalian Yifang and told not to report to training for returning home late from international duty.
The Belgian missed his connecting flight to China after playing in the national team.
Teammate Yu Ziqian accused Carrasco of being lazy, and wanting to go back to Europe earlier than he should have done.
The Chinese club have ordered Carrasco to apologise to his teammates within the next three days.
Order Carrasco to apologise to the team within three days and stop training
A Dalian Yifang club statement read: “Yannick Carrasco of the Dalian Football Club was absent from the away game against Hebei China Fortune and missed training.
“The club now imposes the following penalties on him. Order Carrasco to apologise to the team within three days and stop training.
“The club has always attached importance to the team's discipline construction, and no individual is above the collective.
“The club treats everyone equally.”
Arsenal may be quietly pleased with these developments, as they have been linked with the Belgian since January.
Emery has been keen to sign a winger this summer, and a deal for Carrasco had appeared to have stalled.
Now, he could push for transfer out of the club, opening the door to Arsenal.
The Gunners have a limited transfer budget this summer, and the North London club have as yet failed to reach an agreed fee with Dalian Yifang for Carrasco.
It’s believed that Arsenal have between £40m and £45m to spend this summer.
The Belgium international is valued at around £30m, but Emery would be reluctant to pay much more than that.
Meanwhile, if their bid for Carrasco fails, Arsenal could look to increase their bid for Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser.
The Cherries have told Arsenal that Fraser isn’t for sale, but the Scotland forward is yet to sign a new contract.
