Moreno is set to leave Anfield at the end of his contract this summer.
The Spaniard has struggled for regular game time at Liverpool since Andy Robertson’s arrival in the summer of 2017.
He made just two Premier League appearances this season and one from the substitutes bench in the victorious Champions League campaign.
Surprise? It would be an absolute shock
Moreno has been linked with a free transfer to Barcelona as well as Arsenal.
But Nicol cannot understand why Barca would look at signing the 26-year-old.
The pundit says Moreno would make no improvement to an already shaky defence at the Nou Camp.
“Surprise? It would be an absolute shock,” Nicol said.
“I mean, listen, the truth is Moreno going forward is really good on the ball - I’m being kind here, really good.
“Defensively, he’s a disaster.
“Quite frankly, the reason Barcelona got beat 4-0 by Liverpool was partly down to the two full-backs.
“Surprisingly [Jordi] Alba, who can’t defend properly.

“It makes no sense to me at all.
“Moreno no question is moving. He’s not going to Barcelona, no.”
