Chelsea hero Eden Hazard could stay at Stamford Bridge for TWO huge reasons
CHELSEA could’ve ended Eden Hazard’s dream move to Real Madrid by demanding an astonishing £130million transfer fee.
Chelsea: Eden Hazard says he wants to 'enjoy football'
Chelsea fans have been resigned to losing they star player after Eden Hazard admitted that he has made up his mind about moving.
Blues boss Maurizio Sarri urged the club to accept the decision the Belgian makes after almost seven years of service for the London club.
Although Hazard’s move to Real Madrid seemed inevitable, the two clubs are miles apart on their valuation of the player.
According to Sky Sports News, Zinedine Zidane’s bosses are only willing to pay £88m for Hazard because he has entered the final year of his contract.
A second reason why the 28-year-old might be forced to play out the remaining 12 months of his deal at Stamford Bridge is that the club are under no pressure to sell.
Even though refusing to sell up could lead to Chelsea losing their prized asset on a free next year, they are unable to reinvest any money this summer due to their transfer ban.
Christian Pulisic has now arrived after signing from Borussia Dortmund, and the American had been considered as Hazard's successor by some.
Blues director Marina Granovskaia is said to be in contact with the Spanish giants, and will only agree to a deal if their valuation is met.
Chelsea: Sarri says he is still unsure about Eden Hazard's future
When Hazard was asked if he has made the club aware of his intentions he said: “Yes. A couple of weeks ago.
“I have made my decision - but it is not just about me.”
The former Lille forward also admitted that he had hoped for his future to be resolved earlier in the season.
He continued: “Yes, I wanted that but that's not happened. I'm still waiting like you are waiting and like the fans are waiting.”
"If Eden wants another experience it's very difficult to keep him," Chelsea boss Sarri told Sky Sports last week.
"£100m is too cheap in this market - we have seen in the last windows every price.
"The club agrees with me [about hoping to keep Hazard].
"We are trying to improve. We are trying to become one of the best teams in England and, as a consequence, in Europe - but I think I have to respect his decision."
