Liverpool facing transfer raid, but sale may depend on Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino
NAPOLI are lining up a move for Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne, but a potential deal could boil down to Tottenham’s transfer activity.
Liverpool: Clyne has 'no chance' of getting in the team says Nicol
Having spent the second half of last season on loan at Bournemouth, Nathaniel Clyne looks as if he is approaching the end of his stay at Anfield.
The right-back missed the majority of the 2017/18 season with a persistent back problem as he lost his place in the side to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
According to Goal, Napoli have made contact with the Reds over a potential move for Clyne.
Liverpool are prepared to sell the 28-year-old should they receive a bid in the region of £15million.
West Ham and Bournemouth are also in securing his services as he enters the final year of his contract.
But Napoli’s interest may hinge on Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The Serie A outfit have made no secret of the fact they are interested in signing Kieran Trippier.
Once the Champions League final is finished, the Argentine is set to sit down with the Tottenham board to discuss their plans moving forward.
If Pochettino is presented with cash to spend this summer, he may decide to replace Trippier meaning he could be transfer listed at around £25m.
Although Clyne is the cheaper alternative, Trippier is Napoli’s preference having closely monitored him since the World Cup.
Carlo Ancelotti admitted earlier this month that he was looking at both him and PSV’s Hirving Lozano.
"All I can say is that they're both [Trippier and Lozano] players we're evaluating,” he said.

"So, to be honest, I can only confirm our appreciation of the player.
“Now we have to start proceeding with the analysis."
Tripper has been at Tottenham since 2015 when he completed a £3.5m switch from Burnley.
The England international has managed to nail down his place as first choice right-back at the club since Kyle Walker’s departure to Manchester City, ahead of Serge Aurier.
