Tottenham players train ahead of Champions League final
Tottenham take on Liverpool in Madrid next Saturday as they look to become only the second side from London to win the Champions League - after Chelsea in 2012.
Jurgen Klopp’s men will go into the game as favourites having reached the final last year and only narrowly missing out on winning a maiden Premier League title.
Former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has given his thoughts on what a potential victory could mean for Spurs.
He told Sky Sports: “Of course, Spurs is not winning titles and to win the first one, the biggest one of all, would be, of course, fantastic."
Mourinho, who won the Champions League as a boss with both Porto and Inter, has predicted that a victory could lead to a period of success at Tottenham.
He continued: “It would mean to win other domestic trophies [is easier] because the Champions League is the biggest one of all.
“I think, big match, of course, with huge levels of pressure.
“We used to say finals are not to play, finals are to win.”
Mauricio Pochettino handed Tottenham fans a boost concerning Harry Kane’s fitness on Friday, as he revealed his optimism about the England captain’s return.
"Kane is training, he's in a good phase of recovery," Pochettino said.
"We hope he's there to help, whether that's from the start, off the bench or as moral support in the dressing room.
“We're optimistic that he can be there to help on the pitch."
Liverpool: Klopp's side train ahead of Champions League final
Tottenham reached the final after late dream against both Manchester City and Ajax, which Pochettino claims give his side ‘strength’.
"No one was optimistic when we started the group stage with one point," the Argentine continued.
"We've been through very hard situations and the team has showed character. You don't eliminate City or come back against Ajax by chance. This gave us strength.
"The start of the season was difficult, especially when we had to go back to playing at Wembley.
"The negativity invaded us a bit, but the people made a great effort to come back. It's a great lesson for many people.”
