Chelsea star Eden Hazard rates Blues season out of 10 amid suggestion he’ll stay
CHELSEA star Eden Hazard has rated the Blues’ season six-and-a-half out of 10 but said the side can compete with Manchester City and Liverpool ‘next season’ in a suggestion he may stay at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea need to 'respect' Eden Hazard's decision says Sarri
Chelsea finished third in the 2018/19 Premier League, securing Champions League football next term despite grievances from fans.
The majority of the Stamford Bridge faithful have been unimpressed by Maurizio Sarri’s football, which has largely been languid and predictable.
The Italian tactician seemingly rode the sack-wave in February, though, surviving a month in which his side suffered heavy defeats to Bournemouth and Manchester City, while also losing the Carabao Cup final.
Hazard has been the bright spark throughout, having more goal involvements than any other Premier League player this season (31).
If we want to compete with them next season, we need to do it better.
Asked to rate the team’s season out of ten, the Belgian replied: “Now it's like six-and-a-half.
“If we win in Baku, it is going to be maybe a seven-and-a-half.”
The Blues travel to the Azerbaijan capital to take on Arsenal in the Europa League final on May 29.
While Unai Emery’s side will be fighting to not only secure silverware but also qualification for the Champions League next season, Chelsea can just focus on the former.
It will be Europe’s premier competition the west London club will be vying to win next season, along with an improved performance in the Premier League.
When talking about how the club can progress, Hazard spoke as if he expects to be part of the team come the 2019/20 campaign, despite expectations he will leave for Real Madrid.
"When you look at the season, [Manchester City and Liverpool] are far better than us,” the 28-year-old asserted.
“If we want to compete with them next season, we need to do it better. It's that simple.
Eden Hazard to Real Madrid WILL happen says reporter
“We need to win games in football - if you don't, you're in trouble. How can we bridge the gap if the transfer ban remains in place?
“I think if we can keep the same philosophy as this season, keep playing football like we tried to do it this season but in a better way, that's it.
“To be in the top four in the Premier League is very hard. We have achieved this, we worked all together during the season.
"We did a great job. Could it have been better? Of course, but at the end the target is to be in the top four and we are."
