Chelsea told to 'get away from Eden Hazard' and COPY Liverpool with transfer decision
CHELSEA “need to get away from Eden Hazard” as his dominance on the pitch is now becoming detrimental, akin to Philippe Coutinho’s last days at Liverpool.
Chelsea must ‘get away from Hazard’ says John Barnes
That is the opinion of former England international John Barnes.
Hazard has scored 16 goals and laid on 13 assists in the Premier League this season, spearheading Chelsea to their top four bid.
The Belgian has constantly flirted with a move away to Real Madrid in the summer, however, causing speculation over his future.
Although it has seemingly had no effect on his form on the pitch, Barnes believes the west London club should learn from Liverpool and take what they can get from Hazard, who has one year left on his contract.
“I think they need to get away from Eden Hazard,” Barnes boldly stated on beIN SPORT.
“I think Liverpool, when Coutinho left, they were a much better team.
“I think Hazard influences the team so much that anywhere he goes you have to give him the ball.
“They’ve got good players and they can’t show their worth.”
I think they need to get away from Eden Hazard
Coutinho fled Merseyside for Barcelona in January 2018, earning Liverpool £142million in the process.
The Brazilian was regarded as Jurgen Klopp’s finest talent but the side have excelled in his absence, making the Champions League final and staying in touch with champions Manchester City this term.
“When Coutinho left, as much as he was the best player, the team became a better team,” Barnes opined.
“And I think Hazard dominates that team so much that every time they get the ball they have to give it to him.
“I think they’ve got to get away from Hazard because they’ve got good players, like Willian and Pedro.
“But they’re not able to show what they can do because it’s all about Hazard.”
