Tottenham Hotspur vs Ajax: Pochettino reacts to 1-0 loss
Tottenham were dealt a huge blow to their dreams of Champions League glory on Tuesday night.
Ajax’s 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium set the Dutch side on course for the Madrid final, Donny van de Beek netting the first-half winner.
Many have praised Erik ten Hag’s side for trusting in young, often unknown players.
Masterminding that approach from behind the scenes has been two Arsenal favourites, Dennis Bergkamp and Marc Overmars.
Former midfielder Overmars has been the club’s director of football since 2012, overseeing the signings of Hakim Ziyech, Dusan Tadic and Daley Blind.
Bergkamp, meanwhile, left the club in 2017 after a number of years coaching the first-team and youth prospects in their famous academy.
On Tuesday night, following the victory, MacFarlane posted a photo on Twitter of the pair celebrating their Premier League title with Arsenal.
And fans didn’t even need a caption to understand that it was a dig at Spurs.

One Twitter user commented: “I love that you’ve waited to hit tweet bang on full-time.”
Another joked: “Perfect timing.”
MacFarlane has been the Gunners’ chief photographer for over 18 years, during which time they have won two Premier Leagues and six FA Cups.
The picture he posted came from Overmas and Bergkamp’s 1998 title win, Arsene Wenger’s first as manager.
