Ashley Barnes reveals what Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp text him before Man City game
BURNLEY ace Ashley Barnes has revealed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has sent him a text ahead of their clash with Manchester City.
Burnley host City this afternoon with Pep Guardiola’s side knowing a win will send them back to the top of the Premier League.
Liverpool are currently at the summit with a 5-0 win over Huddersfield on Friday returning the Reds to the top.
Liverpool have never won the Premier League but know it is out of their hands if City win all their remaining matches.
Barnes could be key for the Clarets at Turf Moor and the forward has revealed that Klopp has made him a potential offer should he net against City.
“I've had a few messages yesterday from Liverpool fans making a joke of it but it's all good,” Barnes told the Burnley Express.
“It would mean everything [to win against City].
“Klopp has even given me a sly text to say that if I score he might sign me for next season – so I might be on the move!
“But look, for something so silly, it would be a massive thing if I was to score and we were to win.
“All of us would probably go down in Liverpool history if we helped them out.”
Barnes’ revelation comes after he was involved in a hilarious Instagram post alongside former team-mate Jonathan Walters.
Walters retired earlier this year after struggling to recover from an Achilles injury.
And the 35-year-old posted an image alongside Barnes, who was holding a pen.
Liverpool will finish SECOND to Man City says pundit
The former striker captioned the post: “Only one man can save Liverpool now. Is it worth a three year contract if he scores the winner tomorrow, Jurgen.”
Manchester City are looking for an 11th league win in a row.
They are current Premier League champions and also have Leicester and Brighton to play this season.
