Gary Neville singles out Liverpool star Jurgen Klopp will DROP against Barcelona
LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp will NOT pick Daniel Sturridge against Barcelona on Wednesday - even if Roberto Firmino is not fit.
Liverpool: Daniel Sturridge's career will 'VANISH' says pundit
That is according to Sky Sports pundit and Manchester United legend Gary Neville.
Sturridge was handed just his third Premier League start against Huddersfield on Friday.
Firmino missed the match at Anfield due to a small muscle problem.
Origi has been preferred to Sturridge in recent months when Firmino has been either injured or rested.
If this was a game away from home in Barcelona and Firmino wasn’t fit then definitely Origi would play
Neville believed it was the right decision to pick the Englishman for the visit of Huddersfield.
However, he cannot see Sturridge starting against Barcelona on Wednesday.
“I think because Huddersfield will play deep, Liverpool will have most of the ball, you do need sometimes someone with a little bit of creativity,” Neville said.
“And I think Daniel Sturridge works well in tight spaces.
“If this was a game away from home in Barcelona and Firmino wasn’t fit then definitely Origi would play.
“He’d have more energy, more pressing, more runs in behind.
“I think tonight, because it’s Huddersfield, Liverpool will dominate the game.
“I think it will suit Sturridge and he is a goalscorer.”
Liverpool were ‘excellent’ against Huddersfield say pundits
Liverpool play Barcelona in the semi-final of the Champions League.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are looking to make it to a second successive final.
They will face either Tottenham or Ajax in the final in Madrid if they get past Barca.
