Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will NOT be Man Utd boss next season on one condition - Steve Nicol
OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER will only not be the Manchester United manager at the start of next season if he does not feel he can turn the club’s fortunes around.
Man United could be the ‘WRONG job for Solskjaer’ says pundit
That is the opinion of Liverpool legend and ESPN FC pundit Steve Nicol.
Solskjaer was appointed permanent Manchester United manager in March after a fine interim period in charge.
However, United’s form has dipped dramatically and they have now lost seven out of their last nine matches in all competitions.
The Red Devils face a battle to finish in the Premier League top four and will end the season having won no silverware.
He might actually come to the conclusion that I think a lot of us have that maybe this is the wrong job for him
Nicol was asked if there was a chance of Solskjaer being sacked after the recent poor run.
But he reckons the only way he will leave before the start of next season is if he resigns.
“We know what it’s like, things happen that you just don’t expect at all,” Nicol said.
“If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not at Manchester United at the start of next season, I think the only reason is because he might just say ‘enough of this’.
“He might actually come to the conclusion that I think a lot of us have that maybe this is the wrong job for him.”
Solskjaer is set to have a busy summer transfer window at United.
Midfielder Paul Pogba continues to hit the headlines over reports over his future.
But Solskjaer is confident the Frenchman will remain at Old Trafford.
"I think he will be here next season," Solskjaer said.
"Paul has done fantastic for us. We want him to do well. He is a leader in the dressing room.
"If I could guarantee I would say yes.
"You can't guarantee but I think he will be."
