Man Utd team news: Predicted 4-3-1-2 line up to face Everton – Latest injury updates
MANCHESTER UNITED have been boosted by the return of several players to full fitness ahead of their clash with Everton (1.30pm).
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has delivered a positive injury update on a number of players ahead of United’s visit to Goodison Park.
The Red Devils are looking to bounce back from a sobering 3-0 defeat to Barcelona in midweek, with the Spanish giants ending their Champions League hopes.
However, the race for the top four is still on and United are likely to welcome key midfielder Nemanja Matic back to the starting XI this weekend.
Speaking ahead of the clash with Everton, Solskjaer said: “Nemanja and Alexis [Sanchez] had a good session yesterday [Thursday], so they will probably be involved.
“The squad is looking good and getting better and better, I have to say.
“Ander [Herrera] is back in training – he’s been working really hard. Eric [Bailly] will be back in training over the weekend, Antonio [Valencia] we’re not sure about yet.”
Both Herrera and Bailly are unlikely to feature against the Toffees but should be fully fit for the run-in.
Meanwhile, Luke Shaw is suspended and will serve the second game of his two-match ban after picking up 10 yellow cards.
Ashley Young will start at left-back in place of the 23-year-old while Diogo Dalot could line up on the opposite flank.
Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof will line up at centre-back while Fred and Paul Pogba should partner Matic in midfield.
Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard will compete for a spot in attacking midfield while Anthony Martial could drop to the bench after a poor display at the Nou Camp.
Finally, Romelu Lukaku could return to the starting XI in attack alongside Marcus Rashford having been restricted to a cameo appearance on Tuesday.
