Man City vs Tottenham: Champions league second leg previewed
Mauricio Pochettino will have to do without Harry Kane and up to six other key stars for the key Champions League meeting with Man City.
Kane suffered an ankle injury in the 1-0 first-leg victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and will most likely miss the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, Dele Alli suffered a broken hand last week but could be fit to play in a cast.
Speaking about Alli on Tuesday, Pochettino said: “We need to assess him. We’ll have our last training session today and then we’ll decide.”
Tottenham rotated their squad for the 4-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday, although the win came at a cost with Fernando Llorente injured late on.
Elsewhere, Eric Dier (hip) and Serge Aurier (hamstring) are both sidelined while Harry Winks (groin) is also on the treatment table and unavailable to tonight’s match.
Erik Lamela is doubtful after a hamstring problem and forgotten man Vincent Janssen is ineligible.
Son Heung-min should lead the line after scoring the winner in the first leg although Lucas Moura hit a hat-trick against the Terriers and is pushing for a start.
Pochettino is likely to opt for a back three of Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen while Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose will start at wing-back.
Moussa Sissoko will be partnered by Victor Wanyama in central midfield with Christian Eriksen in a more advanced role alongside Alli.
Ben Davies, Kyle Walker-Peters and Juan Foyth will be the unlucky players to drop out of following the comfortable win at the weekend.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Pochettino said: “It’s impossible to guess and predict what will happen tomorrow. That’s why football is what it is.
