Chelsea TROLL Liverpool with Steven Gerrard joke ahead of Premier League showdown
CHELSEA have taken to social media and brutally trolled Liverpool ahead of their Premier League showdown later today.
The Blues travel to Anfield with Jurgen Klopp’s side chasing the title.
And ahead of the match Chelsea’s social media team have reminded Liverpool of Steven Gerrard’s slip back in 2014.
That was the last time the Reds were challenging for the Premier League title.
Their tweet read: “Did someone say Liverpool v Chelsea?”
That was followed by a wink emoji as Chelsea trolled today’s opponents.
Liverpool are currently two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.
Pep Guardiola’s side could move above the Reds today though if they beat Crystal Palace in the early kick-off (2.05pm).
Chelsea are embroiled in a fight to finish in the top four and secure Champions League qualification.
The Blues are fourth, two points clear of Manchester United going into the match against Liverpool.
Liverpool vs Chelsea: Klopp previews Premier League clash
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri believes his side face a tough challenge in facing the Reds.
He said: “To face Liverpool is going to be difficult for us but every game now is difficult.
“We know well the risks of this match but we also know that when we are able to play at 100% of our potential, we can gain points anywhere.
“We are in a very good physical and mental condition right now.”
And Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has predicted a Reds win this afternoon.
He explained: “I think Liverpool will win this, whether Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri picks his best team or not.
“I was at Tuesday's win over Porto in the Champions League and the Reds should have won by more than two goals, but I always felt they could have raised their game at any time.
“They have had a decent rest since Tuesday night and I don't think they were overstretched in midweek anyhow.”
