Arsenal news: Alexandre Lacazette reveals major difference from final Arsene Wenger season
ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE says Arsenal players can “feel the difference in the atmosphere” under manager Unai Emery.
Lacazette scored the second goal in their 2-0 win over Newcastle on Monday night to send Emery’s in-form Gunners above Manchester United and Tottenham into third in the Premier League table.
Aaron Ramsey had earlier opened the scoring and Arsenal are now on course to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Arsenal were sluggish at times at the Emirates but they got the job done as the visitors tried to stifle the hosts by stacking men behind the ball.
And Lacazette insisted it was a good result as he praised Emery for the impact he has had since arriving at the club as successor to Arsene Wenger last summer.
"It was a big game tonight, a tough game,” the Frenchman said.
“The coach said we had to be patient and efficient in the box and we did that.
"It's always like this against Newcastle. We are happy.
"I can feel the difference in the atmosphere from last season, now we can maybe go to the Champions League.
“The fans helped us to get third place. We work every day to be in third place, now we must stay in this position. I would like to score away from home too but if we win that's all that is important.
“We are more confident, everybody knows what we have to do."
Arsenal were 10 points behind rivals Spurs at the start of last month but they are now two points clear and in the box-seat for a top-four finish.
However, five of their last seven Premier League games are away from home and they have just the 10th best record in the division on the road.
A trip to Everton next time out and facing Wolves at Molineux at the end of the month are perhaps their toughest tests. between now and the end of the campaign.
