Liverpool recent results shows the ONE thing they are missing - Andy Cole
LIVERPOOL’s recent narrow wins shows the lack of Premier League-winning experience in their squad.
That is the verdict of former Manchester United and England striker Andy Cole.
Liverpool sit top of the Premier League table, two points clear of second-placed Manchester City.
City do have a game in hand though, as they entertain relegation-threatened Cardiff on Wednesday.
Liverpool have won their last three league games but only scraped past both Fulham and Tottenham after late scares.
It’s only Milner who’s won the Premier League. To a certain extent it is starting to show at the moment
They were held to goalless draws at both Manchester United and Everton, though they did put five and four goals past Watford and Burnley respectively.
James Milner is the only regular in the Liverpool side to have won the Premier League title.
The midfielder lifted the trophy when at City back in 2014.
And Cole says a lack of fluency in the Liverpool team is down to the fact hardly any of them have been in this position before.
“I thought first half Liverpool played really well [against Tottenham],” Cole said on Sky Sports.
“They got themselves a goal in front and then second half Tottenham changed their system, caused them a hell of a lot of problems.
“I said to Jamie [Carragher], I think it’s only Milner who’s won the Premier League.
“To a certain extent it is starting to show at the moment because they’re not very fluent, Liverpool.
“They’re scraping home victories, if you get to this stage of the season that’s what you’ve got to do anyway.
“But they’re not the Liverpool that started the season so fluently, scoring goals and the boys up front getting loads of goals as well.”
