ARSENAL were denied an early lead against Newcastle tonight after a very soft foul overruled Aaron Ramsey’s strike.

Ramsey popped up at the back post to convert a corner routine after 12 minutes.
The goal looked good on first watch as Ramsey ran away to celebrate in front of the home fans at the Emirates.
But referee Anthony Taylor instead below up and gave a free-kick to Newcastle.
There was confusion in north London as players and fans couldn’t work out what Taylor had overruled the goal.
Gunners boss Unai Emery will probably be angry with that decision
But upon second look at TV replays, it suggested the referee was not happy with a Sokratis Papastathopoulos tangle with Florian Lejeune.
As these images show, Lejeune hits the deck as the ball flies over his head towards Ramsey.
And while it certainly looked as though Sokratis fouled the Newcastle man, Arsenal fans could argue he was not going to get near the ball.
Indeed, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton was not convinced by the decision.
“I really think it's very harsh on Arsenal,” he said on BBC 5Live.
“It would be interesting to see that one again.
“Gunners boss Unai Emery will probably be angry with that decision.”
He then said: “Did Florian Lejeune have to go over [when he was pulled by Sokratis in the area]? A strapping bloke? C'mon!”

Luckily for Arsenal they did not have to wait for long before going 1-0 up against the Magpies.
And it was Ramsey who got the goal when he fired low in off the post.
