Tim Sherwood reveals serious fears involving Arsenal and Tottenham - 'It’s unthinkable'
TIM SHERWOOD is alarmed over the possibility of Arsenal finishing above Tottenham in the Premier League this season.
Arsenal: ‘Unbelievable’ if Emery gets them in top four says Burley
Tottenham have finished above their north London rivals for the last two seasons.
That ended a run of 22 straight campaigns where Arsenal had come out on top over Spurs.
Tottenham have seen their hopes of pushing for their first Premier League title go up in flames in recent weeks.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have picked up just one point from their last five league matches.
I’ve looked at Arsenal’s fixtures - they’ll win every game. They can win every single game
Arsenal’s fine recent form means they are just a single point behind Spurs, with them also having a game in hand against Newcastle at the Emirates on Monday.
Former Tottenham midfielder and head coach Sherwood says it would be “unthinkable” for an Arsenal team said to be in transition under new head coach Unai Emery to finish above Spurs.
The pundit reckons Arsenal will win all their six remaining matches this season.
But he is still backing Tottenham to claim a spot in the Champions League qualification places.
“Yeah I think [Tottenham] will [finish in the top four],” Sherwood told Premier League Productions on Sunday.
“What alarms me, and you keep alluding to it, is if Arsenal win their game in hand against Newcastle, which I think they will.
“For Arsenal to finish above Tottenham, when we thought the pendulum had swung the other way, for a new manager to go in and hardly strengthen his squad, for them to finish above Tottenham would be unthinkable.
“To go into this stadium and play Thursday night in the Europa League, it’s unthinkable.
Arsenal need to do a lot to be in the top four says Unai Emery
“I don’t even want to think about it.
“I’ve looked at Arsenal’s fixtures - they’ll win every game. They can win every single game.
“If they go with a lot of consistency with their team selection, which I think he’s come away from at times, with [Mesut] Ozil, and the two boys up front, [Alexandre] Lacazette and [Pierre-Emericl] Aubameyang.
“I think they’ve got a real chance to win every single game.
“It’s in their hands now, that’s what the alarming thing is.”
