Celtic boss Neil Lennon ISN'T happy after Rangers win, it's all because of Scott Brown
CELTIC boss Neil Lennon has been left angry at the treatment of his captain Scott Brown despite his side’s 2-1 triumph over Rangers in the Old Firm derby.
Celtic: Neil Lennon reacts to 2-1 win against Rangers
Rangers were lucky not to finish the match with nine men after Ryan Kent shoved Scott Brown in the face in the second half.
The visitors were clearly unhappy with the Celtic captain for his involvement in the sending off of Alfredo Morelos.
El Bufalo was provoked in the first half by Brown when he clipped the striker’s heels.
The Colombian then struck the midfielder with an elbow which saw him receive his fifth red card of the season.
Goals from Odsonne Edouard and James Forrest saw Celtic go 13 points clear at the top of the SPFL, cancelling out Kent’s equaliser for the ten men.
After the match Neil Lennon explained why he is furious with the treatment of his captain.
"He's been elbowed [by Morelos] and then pushed or punched in the face by another player and really Rangers should have been down to nine men," Lennon told BBC Scotland.
"Ryan Kent, after we scored the second goal, has either slapped or punched him in the face and it's just unacceptable at this level of football."
Rangers: I can't defend Morelos anymore says Gerrard
He also defended claims that it was his game plan to antagonise Morelos.
"It wasn't premeditated,” he said.
“You'd need to ask Alfredo Morelos why he keeps doing it because he's a great player but he's obviously got major discipline problems.”
Brown escaped a caution on both occasions, after the match Steven Gerrard claimed that "it's only fair that both sides get punished.”
"You're playing against a player who loves to antagonise," Gerrard told Sky Sports.
"Morelos and Kent are both provoked. The guy who antagonised it all from the beginning deserves to be punished as well."
