Liverpool team news vs Tottenham: Predicted line up – Alexander-Arnold doubt, duo return
TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD remains a doubt for Liverpool's Premier League clash with Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday (4.30pm).
The Reds full-back was forced to withdraw from the England squad for their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Montenegro due to a back injury.
And now Alexander-Arnold faces a late fitness test before Liverpool take on Spurs this weekend.
The 20-year-old is in contention to play but may be left out in favour of versatile midfielder James Milner.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, manager Jurgen Klopp said: "Trent still feels his back. We're not 100 percent sure so we have to watch him.
"It's not an obvious injury that you can say something is broke or whatever, it's just a bit annoying actually that he cannot feel really free."
Klopp also gave updates on the rest of the squad, revealing that Joe Gomez is back in training while Xherdan Shaqiri is nearing a recovery from a groin injury.
When asked about the Swiss international, Klopp said: "[He is] good, much better.
"Shaq, since a couple of weeks [ago], has had some problems with the groin.
"He trained, not how he could train, but was still in the squad and all that stuff because we didn't have a lot of options. Now he feels better day by day and should be fine for the weekend."
Naby Keita has returned to training after a slight muscle injury and is available to feature, although he may have to be content with a spot on the bench.
Adam Lallana may miss out as well if Alexander-Arnold is fit, meaning Milner can push into midfield alongside Fabinho and Giorginio Wijnaldum.
Jordan Henderson is another option for Klopp while Joel Matip will continue alongside Virgil van Dijk and the first-choice front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are certain to start.
