Portugal team news vs Serbia: Predicted line up – Ronaldo injury doubt, Wolves duo dropped
CRISTIANO RONALDO and his Portugal team-mates are back in action against Serbia tonight as they continue their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign (7.45pm).
Euro 2020: Portugal fans sing ahead of clash with Serbia
Portugal were held to a 0-0 draw by Ukraine during the opening match of their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.
Fernando Santos’ side had 18 shots compared to just two from the visitors but were unable to break the deadlock and had to be content with a point.
Portugal have now scored just once in their past three matches and were held to a draw on each occasion.
Ronaldo and co can get back on track when they welcome Serbia to the Estadio da Luz, although the 33-year-old is a slight doubt after picking up a knock on Friday.
If fit, the Juventus forward could well have a different strike partner after Andre Silva failed to fire on Friday night, with both Dyego Sousa and Diogo Jota in contention.
Jota’s Wolves team-mates Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho may find themselves dropping to the bench if Santos rotates his squad.
The pair helped Portugal dominate against Ukraine but could make way for the Benfica duo of Pizzi and Rafa.
The back four is likely to remain unchanged after a solid display, meaning Joao Cancelo and Raphael Guerreiro will flank Pepe and Ruben Dias.
Manchester United has been strongly linked with a move for the latter, although the 21-year-old Dias is also attracting attention from Juventus.
Meanwhile, fellow United transfer target Bruno Fernandes is sidelined due to injury.
Serbia come into the match on a hot-streak of goalscoring form, having failed to find the back of the net just once in their past seven games.
Mladen Krstajic’s side earned an impressive 1-1 draw in their international friendly against Germany last time out and will hope to spring an upset against the defending European champions.
