Arsenal news: Lee Dixon reveals what ‘insider’ has told him about Gunners
ARSENAL legend Lee Dixon has revealed what a club insider has told him about Unai Emery’s training sessions.
Arsenal: Unai Emery 'excited' by Europa League prospect
Former right-back Dixon spent 14 years of his professional career at Arsenal before retiring in 2002.
He won four league titles and three FA Cups including two doubles under Arsene Wenger.
Therefore it is not a surprise Dixon still keeps in touch with plenty of people at the club.
He says training sessions have risen drastically in terms of intensity since Unai Emery replaced Wenger last summer.
The little insider has kind of said training has completely changed in that respect, which I think’s a good thing
And he believes that was a change that was needed needed to be made by the Spaniard.
“The training intensity and the accountability in training with what is expected of them has gone up,” Dixon told Premier League Productions.
“I know that for a fact because I’ve still got a few people knocking around the training ground that I can ask how things are going.
“The little insider has kind of said training has completely changed in that respect, which I think’s a good thing.”
Arsenal are fourth in the Premier League table and in the quarter-final of the Europa League.
Dixon has seen plenty of positives, especially in the games against fellow top-six sides.
However, he admits there is still the odd performance that needs to be eradicated.
“We’ve seen this season some of the results have been fantastic, some of the performances have been brilliant,” Dixon continued.
Arsenal: Pundits praise Gunners following Europa League win
“Tottenham at home they were sensational, they played well away from home as well, the game against United recently.
“But then they’ll throw in a Rennes [performance] away from home and some of the results they had in that [unbeaten] run they went on at the start of the season, they should gave been 3-0 down against West Ham at home and they won the game easily.”
Arsenal are next in action on April 1 when they host Newcastle in the Premier League.
