Liverpool suffer BAD news despite Champions League win: Jurgen Klopp faces huge dilemma
LIVERPOOL suffered a big blow in the final minutes of their Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich.
Liverpool: Virgil van Dijk reacts to victory over Bayern Munich
The Reds recorded a famous win at the Allianz Arena as they run riot in Munich to reach the last eight.
Two goals from Sadio Mane and a bullet header from Virgil van Dijk saw Jurgen Klopp’s men over the line.
But Liverpool were hit with bad news in the dying embers when Andrew Robertson received a yellow card.
The caution means he will now be suspended for the first-leg of the quarter-final.
The left-back was previously booked in the group stages away to Paris Saint-Germain and at home to Napoli.
Liverpool have already had to cope without one suspended star in the knockout stages.
Van Dijk had to sit out of the first leg with Bayern Munich as Fabinho slotted in alongside Joel Matip.
Klopp will now be facing a major dilemma when the Champions League returns.
Alberto Moreno will be hoping to get a rare opportunity but the German is likely to chose the reliable James Milner to slot in at left-back.
Liverpool will receive their fate in Friday’s draw.
Goalscorer Van Dijk wasn’t going to let Robertson’s yellow card spoil the night insisting Liverpool will find a solution.
"It is a great evening. We knew it would be tough as they have a great team with fantastic players,” he said.
Liverpool fans sing football chant ahead of Bayern Munich clash
"We were unlucky on their equaliser but we got the job done and we're into the last eight.
"It is very important and it feels amazing to score. We need to cover him [Andy Robertson - who misses the next game through suspension] but we will prepare and make sure everyone is ready."
Liverpool are one of four English quarter-finalists, joining Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham.
James Milner said: "It is good for English football. That's what you want. We don't know who we are going to get in the next round but we have good feelings from last year so hopefully we can carry that on and go as far as we can.”
