Man Utd appointment of Solskjaer and transfer update CONFIRMED by Alan Shearer on MOTD
MANCHESTER UNITED are going to confirm Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as their new manager - and he's already working on transfers behind the scenes.
Man United: Solskjaer has got ‘EVERYTHING right’ says pundit
That's according to Alan Shearer, who confirmed the news on Saturday night's Match of the Day show.
Solskjaer had earlier roared it was "like the old days" as Manchester United scored a late winner against Southampton to move three points behind third-placed Tottenham.
Shearer said: "What a job he's doing. He's made up a huge deficit - 11 points they were off the top four when he took over and he's made that up.
"It doesn't matter when he gets the job - next week or at the end of the season - but he's getting it.
"Decisions are being made now for pre-season, players coming in, players coming out - and he's making those decisions.
"It's just a matter of time. He's done a brilliant job."
Lukaku's double and one from Andreas Pereira helped United win their 10th of 12 Premier League games under interim boss Solskjaer.
"I'm so pleased for the boys that they managed to claw three points out of this game," he said.
"The manner of it is like the old days. I have been part of it so many times myself."
Of Lukaku's brace, he added: "He is a quality scorer.
"We need to have him more in front of the goal. But he has done fantastic in his work rate, attitude, he loves scoring goals, he smiles every day, he does extra shooting in training."
It emerged this week that United are using Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the face of their season ticket sales pitch - even though he might not be their manager.
"I have done a video shoot. I am pleading for the fans to get their season tickets," he admitted this week.
"It wasn't strange doing it but if my kids see a commercial with me in it and I'm back home in Norway, that will be strange."
