Real Madrid vs Barcelona: Fans in MELTDOWN after Sergio Ramos did THIS to Lionel Messi
SERGIO RAMOS lived up to his bad reputation during El Clasico against Barcelona when fans fumed at two particular incidents with Lionel Messi.
Barcelona celebrate winning against Real Madrid
The Real Madrid captain is renowned for being a master of the dark arts.
He is not the most popular among Liverpool supporters after he injured Mohamed Salah in last season’s Champions League final.
The Egyptian was substituted in tears as Real Madrid went on to win their third successive European title.
And Ramos was up to his usual tricks in Saturday’s El Clasico against Barcelona.
There was already bad blood in the Real Madrid camp after they were thrashed 3-0 by their rivals in Wednesday’s Copa del Rey semi-final second-leg.
Ramos deliberately left his leg out in the first half to trip Lionel Messi.
The Spanish international then went to the floor pretending to be injured.
He was clearly out to target the Argentine, not long after he appeared to put his arm into the Barcelona man's face.
Messi then dropped to the ground and fans on Twitter completely lost their cool with Ramos, claiming he knew exactly what he was doing.
One fan tweeted: “Imagine loving the beautiful game and then having to pretend to support Sergio Ramos as your captain and pretend to hate Messi.”
Another put: “Rule #1 Don't make my Messi angry, you watch out Ramos, 2nd half he's coming for you. #ElClásico.”
A third tweeted: “He tried to end Messi's football career a long time ago and he never succeeded and will never succeed.
“We will remember Ramos as loser. A captain of losers…”
A fourth added: “Astounding that Ramos receives no action for his elbow on Messi - what is the point of VAR?”
Messi was left with a bloody nose, he then stood up and confronted the Real Madrid captain.
It’s not often that forward loses his cool but Ramos pushed him too far this time.
